Bob Firman Invitation in Boise

So I had never remembered being to Boise, ID. It is beautiful! I could live there. They have this 26 mile green belt which is gorgeous to walk, run or ride a bike on.

They ran at the Eagle Island State Park in Eagle, Idaho. It was a fun course where the girls ran on eight different surfaces in one race. They ran on grass, sand, gravel, weeds, asphalt, dirt, concrete and something else I can't remember, but at any rate pretty cool. This picture below is where they switch from beach to grass.

BYU took 1st with 9 of the top 10 spots. The team did great!!

Having FUN!!

The best part is I was able to go with her. On Friday night the team went to run the race course just to get familiar with it and Stephanie was not with the group. She had been nursing a hip injury and was walking the course. The bus ended up leaving her with no sweats, money, phone or anything except spandex. Luckily I was there and able to come rescue her. It isn't very often I am needed by my self sufficient young adult so it was nice to feel like I could help out.

Aztec Invitational in San Diego

San Diego, California is definately my favorite place to go watch Stephanie run. It is one if she runs you can guarantee I will be there. Of course Nana and Grandpa didn't want to miss it either. They are so great to come support.

The swarm of runners head out for the race.

Stephanie, Ashley Thomas, Katie Palmer, Sarah Edwards, Kenndy Christen and other BYU runners ran in a pack. It is so fun to have such a great team.

Grampa interviewed her after the race with his new toy (phone).

She loves her coach. He takes time after the race to talk with each of the girls individually and as a team. He finds out how they felt and what they thing then he lets them know what they did well and what he feels they could do to improve. He is like a 2nd father to a most of the girls.

The girls aren't just teammates, but also great FRIENDS.

Relaxing after the race waiting for awards. They have this tarp and at each race the girls all right a quote or inspirational thought on it. At the end of the year one girl will ge the tarp to keep.

BYU took 1st again!!

Here is the article from BYU:
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Sept. 18, 2010) – Competing for the first time in two weeks, the BYU men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled to California for meets in Riverside (men) and San Diego (women), and both teams came away with first place overall finishes. “The course today was really tough,” women’s head coach Patrick Shane said. “There were some gnarly hills and a lot of areas that made for difficult footing. Our team did not get a chance to go through the whole course the night before, and we actually had a few runners take a wrong turn today.” BYU won the meet with 55 points with the help of the two athletes that took the wrong turn. Sophomore Michaelanne Laurent and junior Millie Rapp were leading the race early when the two took the wrong turn around the one-mile mark. The two recovered from the error well, as Laurent finished as the top BYU runner, placing fifth in 18:23 and Rapp finished third for BYU and 13th overall in 18:46. Coming through in second place for the Cougars and in eighth overall was redshirt freshman Candace Eddy, who crossed the line 18:36. Rounding out the top-five for BYU was Stacy Slight, who grabbed 14th place in 18:49, and Lisa Drury, who finished 15th in 18:50. A group of BYU runners came in just after Slight and Drury, as the Cougars took places 16-19. Kendy Christensen (18:52), Stephanie Jensen (18:52), Sarah Edwards (18:54) and Nicole Clark (18:54) made up the group of four. “This was really a team race and a big group effort,” Shane said. “Cross country is really about how well you do as a team, and we won this race today as a team. I am really proud of everyone, and especially Michaelanne (Laurent) for finishing first among BYU runners for the first time in her career.” The victory marks the second first place finish for the BYU women this season. BYU also won its first meet as a team at the Utah State Open. Next for the Cougars is the Bob Firman Invitational in Eagle, Idaho on September 25. The race will begin at 9:30 a.m. MST.

Homecoming!

We started the homecoming weekend out with the Timpview Football Game. It was so good to see my girls again. They are like daughters to me and I loved being with them.

Jacob asked Aubrey Glazier from our ward. He asked by taking a phone book and circling his name, Jacob on one page and Jensen on another then he baked a cake and put on top of the phone book and frosted them both together. We hoped it wouldn't be too messy for her.

She answered with a phone book back telling him to text a number. The funny thing is he really texted and didn't get anything back. The next day when we were all talking someone figured out that putting the number in your phone it spells "absolutely". It was such a clever idea.
The day of the dance they started out going to one of the boys cabins and there Cindi and I had everything ready for a lunch by the fire. They roasted hotdogs and s'mores and enjoyed talking and eating. Then they left and hiked to Stewart Falls.
Dallas, John, Keaton and Jacob all drove together.
One of the boys Parent's owned a restaurant called Pho's. They ate in a back room so Cindi and I went and decorated. It was worked out weell the theme of the dance was " and it was perfect we took stuff from Jordan's room and then printed pictures from Paris to put in frames.

After the dance they came to our house and we took some pictures then they had cheeses, french bread, grapes and of course dessert crepes with ice cream, fruit and chocolate sauce. After eating they played hide and seek and murder in the dark through out the whole house.

Utah State Open!

It is so nice to Stephanie running again and the best part is without pain. I guess if you can calling running not being in pain. She was able to run with one of her cousins Alicia Holt who runs for Utah State which is always fun. BYU took 1st place with a score of 23 and then 2nd place was taken by Weber with a score of 46. Stephanie personally took 20th with a time of 17:51. She is so happy to be running again.
